After 20 years of living away from home, you would think Maria de Marco’s problems are over? But Maria is turning 50 years old, and she is alone. After a failed marriage and now a daughter who won’t speak to her, Maria needs help! When mental health professionals, self – help books, a journey of self- discovery and your own mother can’t help because she IS the problem; Maria goes back to group therapy.

BACK TO M.A. sees Maria returning to the group that helped her once with her “Mummy” issues; with the only way she knows how – by talking (and singing about it behind her mother’s back), to a room full of strangers in M.A. Can 12 steps to serenity get her back to her daughter? All are welcome, especially those with mother issues!

Madem Productions presents a return season of BACK TO M.A. After a very successful run at the EL ROCCO ROOM in 2022, this cabaret is about everyone’s relationship with their mother. Using re- imagined show and pop songs, BACK TO M.A. is a sequel to MARIA DE MARCO’S first solo cabaret M.A. Both shows can stand alone, and audience do not need to view the first show to understand the sequel.

What the critics have said:

This was a clever, quirky and warm-hearted show … (Sydney Arts Guide, 2022)

Back to M.A. …a fun and wholesome story about love, communication, and forgiveness.

(Nightwrites 2022)

This funny, engaging and at times quite emotional production. (Theatre Thoughts, 2022)

When you can’t talk to your mother, you go BACK TO M.A. The mother of all cabarets!
