Meraki puts on many different shows a week (often more than one in a single night) and we are always looking for artists of any and all types to perform with us. We regularly host drag, cabaret, theatre, music, burlesque, variety performers, poets, magicians, visual artists, comedians and more. OUR SPACES:
The Gig Bar:
The Meraki Gig Bar is on the second (middle) level of the building and is our vaudeville / variety space. Perfect for music, comedy, cabaret and anything else you care to bring to it. A small raised stage (including a small backstage area) including colour light washes and full PA system, the room is well suited to performances of anywhere between 1-6 people (or 4/5 band members and their instruments!)
Seating is by default in a cabaret style, which fits 50 and allows for a great dinner-and-a-show experience for guests. Alternative seating arrangements can fit up to 65, or the room can be fully standing room allowing for a capacity of up to 100.
The bar on this level specialises in cheap, quick, over the counter drinks that can be ordered and made easily before, during or after a show. The menu also offers multiple hot food options from our kitchen, as well as special dinner-and-a-show meal deals exclusive to the Gig Bar level.
THE HIRE MODEL: The rate for a show on the Gig Bar is 10x the price of one ticket, or 25% of total box office (whichever is greater). So if your show has a $15 ticket, the hire fee is $150. This allows your show to be priced what it’s worth without being penalised for it.
The MainStage:
The Meraki MainStage is our soundproofed, 48-seat, black box theatre space on the third (top) level. With a larger playing space, built in seating rake, speaker system and full basic lighting rig included, the MainStage can support anything from one-off comedy or cabaret shows to full multi-week theatre seasons. The seating rake is fixed in a front-on arrangement, although the seats themselves are not secured, allowing for some flexibility.
The MainStage shares a level with the Green Room Bar, our classic-cocktail speakeasy. The most refined bar in the building, the Green Room is the perfect place for a premium cocktail before or after the show (or during intermission), and offers theatre shows the best foyer bar in Sydney!
THE HIRE MODEL: The MainStage can be hired for $300 per night / $1500 per week plus GST, or 30% of total box office (whichever is higher).
